From a different age…

Member Mark Cole has been in touch regarding recent correspondence regarding the Guild’s history both with Goodwood and the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC). At the time Mark pointed out that the Guild Chalet at Goodwood was used by BRDC members who did not have any facility of their own, and the same at the Guild Chalet at Silverstone until the BRDC Clubhouse was built. 

 The Guild was unable to find much evidence of the former, relying on word of mouth over the years, but now Mark has found this photograph in Jack Brabham’s Motor Racing Book, published in 1960 – the caption is self-explanatory, showing Jack (at right) with Australian journalist Dev Dvoretsky, who Mark believes was at one time the Guild’s treasurer.
