The Annual General Meeting is an important part of the governance of the Guild, and a key event in its calendar.
The meeting is open to all members and to ensure as many members as possible have a chance to attend an AGM the location and timing vary from one year to the next.
The AGM is chaired by the Guild President or a Vice-President. It provides an opportunity for members to hear reports from the committee on the running of the Guild over the past year and plans for the future. It also ratifies the committee's appointments of vice-chairman and chairman in years where these change.
When there are committee vacancies members are canvassed for nominations, which must be received a month ahead of the meeting date. If there are more nominations than vacancies each nomination is put to a vote at the AGM.
Members may also put forward resolutions to be discussed, and again these must be received by the Guild Secretariat one month in advance of the AGM.
