Auto Express is looking for a talented wordsmith to produce news, first drive and reviews content across all platforms to the very highest standards.

You'll join an inspired and inspiring creative team of writers, researchers, editors, designers and filmmakers who have a passion for crafting best-in-class content that engages and excites audiences across a wide range of channels.

An experienced writer with solid knowledge of the car industry, you'll hit the ground running, creating a constant flow of new stories for the website, written at the very earliest opportunity, and work with the website editor to ensure allrumour stories are updated regularly. Written canonical reviews should be created and updated for every model. You’ll also assist with flowing in copy and assisting with the layout of the news pages of Auto Express magazine, to the satisfaction of the editor.

Your Opportunity…

You'll have the chance to help shape the future of exciting, high-performing media brands, connecting with readers in innovative and compelling ways. You’ll be required to represent the titles externally at industry events, as well as assisting with UK-based reviews activity (group tests and photoshoots). As such, you’ll have to travel and work long or unusual hours, but if you love cars as much as we do, you won’t find this a problem.

Taking guidance from the deputy editor, you'll create a wide range of long and short form content, spanning everything from news and first drives to comparison tests.

Proactive and connected, you'll consume a vast array of media on a daily basis, keeping up to date with new trends, best practice and competitors to ensure Auto Express is covering the right topics in the right way.

You'll also be required to improve, optimise, edit and proof existing content, and to review other writers' and contributors' work. You should have a clear understanding of how the Auto Express website works, have the ability to upload content directly to the website and understand how we should create content that works best for SEO to improve our rankings.
