Under the guidance of the Communications and Automotive Partnerships Manager, the job function is to:

  • Execute Continental Tyres’ internal and external communication strategy in the UK and Ireland establishing, promoting or protecting the positive perception of the company’s policies, products, services and personnel.
  • Deliver CTG’s social media strategy in line with all local and corporate guidelines.
  • Deliver the agreed level of PR and communications support for Continental Vehicle Tyres in the UK and Ireland
  • Work with the Marketing Communications team to deliver an integrated marketing approach in line with the marketing communications blueprint.

Working within the marketing team this function reports directly to the Communications and Automotive Partnerships Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Communications and Automotive Partnership Manager in being the press and media link within and for Continental Tyres in the UK and Ireland.
  • Assist the Communications and Automotive Partnership Manager to manage the public relations budget and ensuring that all spend is within agreed limits.
  • Assist the Communications and Automotive Partnership Manager to develop, implement and monitor CTG’s social media strategy working with chosen agencies and internal resources.
  • Coordinate all tyre tests conducted by UK and Irish press and manage test licences.
  • Locally coordinate intra-corporate company communication activities in the UK and Ireland.
  • Support intra-office communications (e.g. Intranet) that promote the company’s image with its own employees locally and corporately.
  • Support the Communications and Automotive Partnership Manager in managing/ maintaining and effectively communicating Continental’s crisis management programme in line with the company’s business continuity plan.
  • Assist the Communications and Automotive Partnership Manager where required, representing the communications interests of Continental Tyres UK and Ireland with various industry bodies.
  • Manage the relationship with all motoring writers associations
  • Work with Marketing Manager CVT to consistently deliver the agreed level of PR and communications support for CVT in the UK and Ireland.
  • Work with the Marketing Communications team to deliver an integrated marketing approach in line with the marketing communications blueprint.
  • Provide support on media relations and communications activity externally and internally within CTG.
  • Handle press queries, organise media interviews, write and isse press releases, compile briefing notes and provide assistance in script/speech writing.
  • Regular analysis and reporting on communications activity and effectiveness in line with the marketing communications blueprint.
  • Follow Continental’s Code of Conduct, Compliance policies and operate in accordance with the 8th EU Directive.
  • Maintain and communicate an up-to-date competitor communication activity analysis document.
  • Responsible for content on CTG’s phone system messages and reception TVs.
  • Periodically and as requested, communicate the public relations strategy and activities across and throughout the business.

Other key responsibilities:

  • Promote good practice in communications throughout CTG.
  • Monitor and ensure consistency in use of all Continental AG’s brand identities.
  • Contribute towards the definition of CTG’s brand’s values.

A successful candidate would have:

  • Graduate calibre.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills combined with first rate influencing, negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Very strong presentation preparation and delivery skills.
  • Excellent computer skills; MS Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop.
  • Proven track record of managing a process or project, and working on own initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, at all levels.
  • Team player who is flexible and committed.
  • Ability to adapt well to change.
  • Willingness to travel within and outside the UK.
  • Excellent copywriter and proof reader.
  • Capable of analysing communication based management information.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Time management and decision making skills.
