Job type Full time

Due to internal promotion Renault is looking for an experienced press and communications professional to join its UK Press & PR team as Press Relations Manager.

You will have the vision and drive to plan, develop and lead UK media relations strategy, across all product and corporate communications, working across the Renault, Dacia and Alpine brands on everything from the latest Renault supermini, crossover, light commercial vehicle, electric vehicle or hot hatch through to showcasing Renault's involvement in motorsport, celebrating 120 years of innovation or looking ahead to the future with our stunning concepts. You’ll develop Dacia's reputation for quality and value with new audiences and Alpine, the recently revived sportscar brand, back to exceptional press reviews and high customer anticipation – you’ll lead the continuation of this revived brand’s fascinating story.

The job holder will work closely with the Head of Press & PR, and the team of three Product & Corporate Communication Managers that report to it, to deliver a best-in-class press office service and deliver stand-out PR campaigns for Groupe Renault that are fully aligned with the business’s other paid, shared and owned communication channels.

The successful individual will need to have previous press office or PR agency experience (ideally in automotive), a good understanding of the commercial environment, passion for the world of cars and vans together with an established reputation with UK media.

As Press Relations Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, develop and implement media strategy for Renault, Dacia and Alpine models pre- and post-launch to maximise press coverage both in share and positive tone in line with brand and model objectives
  • Lead the team of Product & Corporate Communication Managers to deliver PR campaigns that are fully aligned with shared, owned and paid media in order to deliver stand-out press exposure for Renault, Dacia and Alpine in the UK
  • Proactively lead the department’s participation, working with the Head of Press & PR, in the company’s quarterly commercial planning cycle, coordinating stand-out earned media campaigns that contribute to achieving commercial and brand objectives
  • Oversee post-campaign analysis that demonstrates ROI to internal stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Top 50 automotive, corporate and consumer media
  • Represent the company at international and national media, public and staff events (i.e. International Test Drives, Motor Shows, UK launches, Off-diary media events, Awards etc)
  • Plan and write press information that promotes all the activities of Groupe Renault to maximise press coverage both in share and positive tone
  • Ensuring we always offer best-in-class written, photo and video media assets
  • Manage motorsport press agency activity

An ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Full understanding of UK media including motoring, national, consumer, online and social
  • Exemplary communication skills with the ability to communicate in a corporate tone relevant to the product and brand
  • Knowledge, passion and enthusiasm for cars and vans, the automotive sector and the industry that writes about them
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of the new car and van markets – highly desirable
  • Simple and efficient organisation skills, to effectively manage a busy diary and adapt to changing business priorities
  • A flexible and motivated approach to the way they work, self-motivated and able to work independently, under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Confidence, with an ability to build and foster mutually beneficial relationships
  • Good self-motivation and the ability to motivate and inspire others
  • Motor Industry Press Office or PR Agency experience – highly desirable
  • French language – highly useful but not essential
  • Full UK Driving Licence – essential

Successful candidates will be offered a highly competitive salary, a company annual performance bonus, participation in an employee car ownership plan, an additional loan plan car scheme, contributory pension, family medical cover as well as other flexible benefits to suit and compliment your individual requirements.

Employer Performance Publishing
Location Grantham
Job type Full time
Salary £18,000-£21,000

Performance Publishing is a small (but growing) automotive publishing company that is looking for an editorial assistant to work primarily across its two high street magazines, Absolute Lotus and Complete Kit Car. You’ll also contribute to other titles in the portfolio.

Performance Publishing is a micro publishing company, so you won’t have to deal with layers of corporate bureaucracy, but you will need to muck-in with all kinds of tasks involved in the creation of 19 (and more…) publications per year. The role will give you plenty of opportunity to learn all kinds of useful skills.

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be…

- Coming up with feature ideas for yourself and other contributors

- Writing features

- Tracking down news stories and writing them

- Maintaining communication within the industries the magazines cover

- Subbing freelance copy

- Taking photos and selecting images for features

- Posting on social media channels

- Signing off printer proofs

This is a full-time office-based role, but you’ll also get out and about while gathering features and attending events. The usual hours are 9am to 5.30pm, but we’ll need flexibility around deadlines, photoshoots and events (including weekends).

The key skills you’ll need are…

- The ability to write well. And sometimes under pressure

- Photography (some natural ability is enough to start with, you can learn as you go)

- A good handle on grammar and punctuation – the more pedantic the better

- Planning and organisational skills

But just as important is your attitude: you will be motivated, enjoy work and come up with ideas. You’ll work closely with editors, graphic designer and advertising manager, liaising with them all to make every issue the very best it can be.

How to apply Send your CV and two feature ideas for each magazine (just a title and couple of sentences about each) plus an example of your previous writing (up to 500 words) to
