Guild Events
Events open to Guild Members
The Guild runs a number of events both internally and in conjunction with
other organisations. Such events are aimed both at being useful to members and
providing enjoyment for them.
The Guild Classic
This annual outing for classic and notable cars, first run in 1999, has proven a major success and become an established part of the calendar, usually becoming fully-subscribed very quickly. The first was staged at Blenheim Palace and generously sponsored by BMW. The Guild is very grateful that BMW has continued to back the Classic, which since 2001 has become a European event. A wide range of members’ cars, backed up by guest manufacturer entries, take on the Classic, which proves great fun while raising sizable funds for the Guild Benevolent Fund.
Events with MIPAA
The Guild stages occasional events with members of the Motor Industry Public Affairs Association. These have included, karting, cricket and clay-pigeon shooting. The occasions provide fun competition and also offer a chance to meet and chat to industry PR representatives in an informal atmosphere.
The Annual Dinner
The annual dinner is held in December and is the evening when the Guild hosts its friends in the motor industry, to say thank you to them for their assistance throughout the year. The evening also sees the presentation of the Guild’s Annual Awards. Trophies and hard cash are on offer in a number of categories generously supported by manufacturers.
Other Events
There are a number of other events organised for the benefit of Guild members throughout the year, a prime example being the Chairman’s Lunches. Held in various locations, these give members and friends the chance to socialise in a convivial atmosphere, as well as keeping the committee in close touch with the general membership. Details of forthcoming events appear in the monthly newsletter “Update”.
